Wiping soot with a regular cloth almost always smears fine particulate deeper into the surface — our Kimberton, PA technicians use a dabbing technique with chemical sponges specifically to avoid that.

Chemical sponges lift soot particulate instead of smearing it into the surface.
Porous surfaces like drywall get different treatment than tile, glass, or metal.
Soot turns corrosive on metal within about 48 hours — we move quickly.
HEPA vacuums capture fine particulate instead of recirculating it into the air.
Sponges get replaced frequently during a job since a soot-saturated sponge starts redepositing particulate.
This step happens before any wet cleaning, since vacuuming first prevents particulate from smearing when surfaces get wet.
Tile, glass, and metal get a different chemical treatment than porous drywall and wood.
We prioritize metal fixtures early in the job since the corrosion clock starts immediately.
Overhead surfaces often carry the heaviest particulate load and need careful sponge technique to avoid streaking.
Soot pulled into return vents circulates through the whole Kimberton, PA property if left untreated.

Mobile units are equipped for both porous and non-porous surfaces.
You approve the scope before any sponge or solvent touches a surface.
Nothing closes out until you've inspected the finished work.
"Our own cleanup attempt made the soot streaks worse — the dabbing technique they used actually worked." — Homeowner, Kimberton
"Fast response meant the metal fixtures got treated before any real corrosion set in." — Homeowner, Kimberton, PA
"HEPA vacuuming before the wet cleaning made a visible difference — the carpets came out cleaner than I expected." — Homeowner, Kimberton
Wiping smears fine particulate deeper into porous surfaces instead of lifting it out.
We prioritize metal surfaces early specifically because of that corrosion window.
Yes, porous surfaces like drywall and non-porous surfaces like tile get different treatments.
Soot removal reduces odor but a dedicated odor treatment may still be needed for lingering smell.
Yes, HEPA vacuum extraction handles soft surfaces before any wet cleaning begins.
Same-day response is standard given how time-sensitive soot damage is.
We keep response times short across Kimberton specifically because soot corrosion is a time-sensitive problem.
